Seeing the Problem Where it is

Editor's note: This transcript has been lightly edited to bring clarification to certain points of the dialogue and for easier readability. For this reason, it does not match the corresponding audio mp3 word-for-word. However, the overall content and the expressed ideas remain unchanged.

Speaker: When the deceived mind defines a problem it defines it in terms of form. As you go through life, I don’t have enough money to pay the rent. My stomach is hurting. I can’t get into the college I want to get into. My mate divorced me. I’ve been diagnosed with this kind of disease. The weather’s crummy. Every single problem that the ego defines is always defined in terms of form and all the Course in Miracles is saying is the problem is not on the screen. The problem is not about form. The problem is a content problem. If there’s a puff of madness in your mind then you’ve got to withdraw your mind from the puff of madness because as long as you believe in the reality of this puff it’s going to be so horrifying that you’re going to keep wanting to define the problem out here on the surface. So, Jesus says bring the problem to the solution. You know the analogy last night of the World Trade Center. We said the ego and the Holy Spirit are in the basement. You’ve got to get down to where the Holy Spirit and the ego are standing side by side. So that you can see, Gee, the only problem I had was I believed in this ridiculous idea and here’s the solution. This is no choice. [Snaps fingers] the end of choice. Can you imagine the state of mind when there’s no choice because there is nothing to choose between? A state of total rest, total complete oneness where you don’t have to choose between anything. Even the concept of choice disappears into that blip of heaven and what Jesus is saying is that you can’t make that final choice until you see the problem as where it really is…in your mind.

Participant: I don’t want the problem. I want the answer.

Speaker: That’s it.
